With Burgess Birds: A Simple Studies Guide, students cover science, reading, narration, poetry, Latin, and nature journaling among other areas of schooling. Each of the 45 short lessons offers a reading from The Burgess Bird Book for Children, a prompt for narration and the student’s use of the corresponding coloring pages for one of the birds mentioned in the chapter. Prompts are included (but always optional) for nature journaling, mapping, bird poetry, Handbook of Nature Study readings, along with a list of picture and chapter books, and ideas for further , in-depth study for older students.
Simple Studies are meant to be simple and flexible as well as genuinely informational for educators, parents and their students. It’s impossible to “fall behind,” as each lesson is open and go, with handy coloring pages and additional resources to match each lesson.
