A simple yet joyful way to introduce students to Pond animals and activities. Each of the 18 short lessons offers a reading from Among the Pond People by Clara Dillingham Pierson, a prompt for narration, dictation and art opportunities along with a list of picture books for younger children and ideas for further study for older students.

With Simple Studies: Pond Creatures, students cover narration, lentic systems (ponds), zoology, mammalogy, entomology, biology, ornithology, hydrology, nature study, literature, copywork, poetry, art and more all while you simply read aloud..

Older students are prompted to use field guides and to create original drawings in their nature journals as well as use the dictation sentences and a few optional activities.
