Simple Studies: Meadow Creatures
A Charlotte Mason living science instructor handbook for K-6 students.

A simple yet beautiful way to introduce students to Meadow Creatures including insects, arthropods, arachnids and amphibians. Each of the 28 short lessons offers a reading from Among the Meadow People by Clara Dillingham Pierson, a prompt for narration and art opportunities along with a list of picture books for younger children and ideas for further study for older students.

With Simple Studies: Meadow Creatures, students cover narration, entomology, biology, earth science, nature study, literature, copywork, art and more all while you simply read aloud.

Older students are prompted to use field guides and to create original drawings in their nature journals.

Included in this study:

– 28 Simple Lessons that correspond with each chapter

– 28 Hand-drawn Coloring Pages for younger students to use while you read aloud

– Picture Booklists for each lesson

– Chapter Review and Narration prompts

– Field Guide Recommendations, guidance and prompts for older students

– Specific visual aid and video links for each lesson

– Handbook of Nature Study page guides

– Insect Life Cycle Watercolor Illustrations

– Aesop Fables featuring creatures specific to these lessons

– Copywork Pages

– Simple, Optional Hands-On Activities

– Review Questions

Instructors will need one additional item on hand to complete the lessons:

1) Among the Meadow People by Clara Dillingham Pierson (I recommend the New West Press edition for a printed copy but others exist. You can also listen for free on Librivox.com).

“We are all meant to be naturalists, each in his own degree, and it is inexcusable to live in a world so full of the marvels of plant and animal life and to care for none of these things” – Charlotte Mason
