Bennett. Each lesson offers a one-chapter reading, a prompt for narration and corresponding coloring pages to print off for each student. Lessons also offer optional poetry/song memorization, picture books, U.S. maps, and expansion ideas and helpful links for further study for older students.

Very minimal prep is needed and there are prompts and tips for the instructor for obtaining materials several weeks before they will be needed.
Teachers will need one additional item on hand to complete the lessons:
1) The Children’s Book of America by William J. Bennett (check your local library or Abebooks.com for used versions)
Older students are encouraged to keep a Personal History Notebook.
“When we share these stories with children, we teach them about the ideals we revere, the principles by which we want them to live. And thus, we welcome them to a common American culture.” – William J. Bennett
